Task Description:
1 In conjunction with Sales understands market trends, customer needs and expectations, competitions technical capabilities and limitations related to the BU’s current and future products.
2 Together with BU Leadership defines strategic interests of the Business Unit, relative to the acquisition of all future new business for the Business Unit
3 Manages/Co-manages the appropriate resources, to permit an estimating department, that addresses all customer RFQs in an accurate and timely fashion, in alignment with the strategic business interests of the Business Unit
4 Implements an appropriate reporting mechanism and format for his team to track active quotes, assigned tasks, champions, progress status, due dates and customer response timing to ensure proper execution of #3
5 Ensures in depth review of customer RFQ’s and the associated data, team feasibility assessment, development of detailed list of assumptions as required, proper documentation and communication of such to the Sales team
6 Creates and maintains Open Quotes Status & Priorities report
7 Coordinates and chairs meetings with Sales and BU leadership to evaluate and prioritize quoting opportunities in alignment with the strategic interests of the Business Unit
8 Works with the BU responsible technical individuals and departments to ensure best efforts are made to develop optimal process for quotes with high priorities and probability rankings, so that the submitted price will secure a favorable spot for the BU among the competition. This shall include considering BU’s actual performance, including standard costs and improvement targets, and comparing them to the cost model
9 Coordinates and chairs meetings with Sales and BU Leadership to review and analyze customer feedback on all the RFQ’s that have been qualified as serious opportunities
10 Ensures timely reactions to revisit/redevelop costing, and in conjunction with the leadership and sales, pricing for serious opportunities as required to secure the business
11 Works with PDE’s and the BU responsible technical individuals and departments to Prepare and Document all formal Technical Reviews with customers, to support and promote the strategic interests of the Business Unit. This will include VA/VE and CI initiatives that support the BU in maintaining and improving profitability targets
12 Creates and Manages a Communication process to ensure Quoted Process Details and the Assumptions are appropriately Handed Off to the Business Unit’s Program Management Team for all new awards and that all subsequent engineering changes are quoted and documented in a timely manner
13 Works with others including but not limited to, Finance, Program Management, Manufacturing, Marketing and Innovations to understand future and existing capabilities, cost models, customer relationships and their association to the strategic business interests of the Business Unit
14 Together with BU Leadership defines targets and goals and prepares documents that track performance relative to these targets
15 Where costing is related, participates in developing presentations for leadership to review and approve business opportunities
16 Monitors health, safety and environmental practices in the department ensuring observance of legislated regulations and organizational rules
17 Ensures team members are following Finance policies and procedures and approve expenditures for the team as required and related to cost estimating tasks
18 Liaises with others in the organization to share information, resolve problems and provide leadership and specialist support

19 Applies the principles of Scanlon and Participative Management
20 Complies with company policies
21 Performs all other associated tasks, as may be required from time to time
Minimum Qualifications:
• Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent
• Minimum 7 years experience in Automotive Industry with 3 years in management roles
• Able to read blue prints and assess GD&T and specifications
• Working with others, able to assess product feasibility for foundry and machining processes
• Excellent leadership, organization, planning, communication and interpersonal skills
• Result driven and able to lead multiple projects and work with deadlines
• Able to work in team environment |
