| Role Description: How the role fits into the organisational structure. How the role is intended to develop. What the scope and impact of the role is. The successful candidate for this role will provide strong technical delivery capability within the regional strategic development team, delivering a suite of applications and services to support the back-office processing of securities products in Asia Pacific. They will bring strong technical development capabilities to the team having a demonstrable track record of delivering high quality IT solutions. The ideal candidate will have several years experience in developing security clearing and settlement solutions and will be able to work across both the technical domain and also integrate and communicate well with users, testers and other stakeholders in the IT and business teams. The candidate will be an innovative self-starter, with strong technical skills and a keen drive for technical excellence. They will need to be a great team player who not only leads by example, but demonstrates a capacity and willingness to take on new and challenging roles within the team. Working as part of a multi-skilled programme team, the individual will need to be comfortable working with ambiguity and be able to propose options and deliver solutions in a technically advanced and complex application space. The programme delivery follows a well defined SCRUM model, so experience working in this manner is highly desirable. Required Skills: - Web-based front-end – A number of technologies are used (e.g. TomCat, Grails, GWT). - Engineeri ng tools – e.g. SVN, Maven, Team City, JUnit, Mockito, Selenium, Fisheye, Crucible Highly desirable skills: - Investment banking knowledge (especially back office post trade process: settlement and clearing, accounting, reconciliation) - Java – Significant practical experience of core Java (J2SE 5 & 6) development is essential, with Spring and Hibernate Java Concurrency, JDBC, Groovy, XML knowledge all highly desirable - Experience of agile and iterative delivery methods (SCRUM, RUP, EUP etc) - Ability to design solutions and technical components from scratch - Experience of constructing high-volume, high-performance, scalable solutions - Test Driven Development skills - Practical experience of working in SCRUM teams Practical responsibilities of the successful candidate will include: - Technical excellences – demonstrate a high degree of quality orientation and drive ongoing quality improvement within the team. - Development – hands-on technical role, must be able to lead by example delivering solutions as a part of the team. Able to adapt to using different technologies / programming languages as required for the job. - Delivery – responsibility for successful delivery, and helping the team create an environment that combines ongoing innovation, teamwork and delivery focus. - Analysis & Design – driving out a clear understanding of stakeholders requirements in an ambiguous environment and the ability to leverage the wider team to define a solution that fulfils these requirements within the constraints of the environment. - Quality – self-learning and sharing knowledge with other members of the team – challenging and improving the status quo. - Production Support – ensuring releases are co-ordinated and the risks are mitigated. Provision of clear hand-over and support to the run-the-bank support teams. - Documentation –appropriate level of technical design & support documentation within an agile environment. - Architecture – ensure compliance with the regional and global Chief Technology Office strategy and input into the ongoing evolution of the banks regional IT footprint. - Business Knowledge - ensuring continued knowledge of best practice in Investment Banking development |
